1 - Play/Movie - DNS Strands

A couple are dating and looking to take it to the next level. The male, decides to get a DNA test on the partner to see what traits are compatible, and if there are any warning signs. The DNA test includes personality traits as well as physical ones.

To not cause a relationship issue, the male does it in secret by taking a strand of her hair and sending an off for DNA analysis. When it returns, he finds that the matches include a rare and dangerous cancer condition if not treated, and the personality tests show that DNA like hers are compatible with psychopaths and other deranged people. This scares him.

He breaks off the relationship and their story ends there. At a later date she finds the health information, maybe it’s email to her to follow up, or maybe she finds the receipt and gets information somehow. And then she sees what’s happened and realises she had hair extensions put on recently when this DNA test was done, therefore the test must’ve been from the person who originally owned the hair. She doesn’t read or care about the personality profile. Maybe there is conflict with friends telling her to stop, or be careful.

She finds who sold her the hair extensions, a guy named Allan, and goes on a mission to find the original hair owner to let the person know about the critical floor in their DNA. She brushes aside the psychopathic tendencies or still doesn’t know about it.

She finds the person Alice, same colour hair, but they run away, acting like they have been caught.

For some reason she continues to search again, under a desire to “help” Alice.

As the story moves, Alice is found and it looks like they have been doing “bad” things and everyone is in too deep. The audience assumes that Alice is going to attack back, do bad things, etc…

Twist: We find that Alice assumes their hair is about to be stolen again, she was robbed, or owed money and they took her hair. The bad things we discovered earlier, was Alice getting back at these people. Two wrongs to make a right.

We find that Alan who sold the hair is part of the “underworld” and buys hair with no questions asked. They have been looking for Alice too, and following the adventure, hoping to get back (2nd time) to stop Alice attacking them, once and for all.

Standard ending, protagonist realises it all, is about to die, saves the day, and Alice, the person she has been looking for gets the cancer treatments.

2 - Play: The power of communication through the body

The audience enter a room and stand around, keeping a corner free with a simple tape fence on poles and a door.

The lights dim a little in the room so everyone knows the performance is about to start.

Out comes a young woman or man, looking tired and with clothes not well kept. They light up when they see the people, they speak a language unknown to everyone, they appear to be happy that the people will help them. They come up to individuals and show thanks and wonder.. they speak but no one understands, they try, they slow down their speech and explain their pain, suffering, happiness that it might soon be all over, they show gratitude that you have come to help. But soon, they show that they understand the people are not here to help, they are hear to watch, to enjoy a show, they are not going to be saved by these people They cry, lash out, break down, lie on the ground. Give up. Sob. Roll over and ignore the audience for a while. A light comes on behind the door, we hear the words, come, come, lunch time, in a voice, inflections of an animal handler. They get off the floor, look at the audience, will anyone save me? Not one? Can no one cross the line of tape? Defeated they return to the doorway and enter, the door closes behind them.

Audience thoughts: Was this a caged animal trying to communicate but we didn’t understand. Why couldn’t I help, why didn’t I cross the simple barrier? Why did I feel their emotions so deeply when I didn’t understand a word? Information is by speech, sharing emotions are through the body.

3 - A day in the future

The lights slowly get brighter. Starting at 6 AM and full brightness at 6:30.

The temperature in the room moves from mild to warm, making the transition from bed to room easy with minimal distress.

A fun and happy song play in the background throughout the house. Creating endorphins for the occupant.

The shower starts at the perfect temperature as the human walks into the ensuite. A fresh fluffy white town is dispensed from the heater rack. A clothes shoot opens to take the bedtime clothes and closed once the human enters the shower.

The shower temperature is maintained until the last 1 minute, then decreases to help with the transition out and helps with waking. The shower immediately stops when the door is opened.

Today’s clothes are ready on the rack, auto-picked based on the weather today and the calendar of events.

A calendar of today’s appointments and projects is displayed in the mirror. Including health information from the night before. These include Sleep time; Weight (from the bed sensors); Body temperatures; BMI; REM information (from cameras); Skin moisture (which feeds into humidity controls in the room); and movement sensors to predict waking time.

Breakfast is ready in the kitchen. Timed to cook perfectly when the shower has finished. The aroma of freshly cooked food moves to the bedroom to awaken the senses. The induction cooktop refrigerates the food in the saucepans overnight and then switches to cook at the right time. A spatula is lowered and turns back and forward like a mixer to move the food from bottom to top.

Tea/Coffee is automatically made in the kitchen. A set of cups are on a rotating base, allowing each one to the filled and kept warm.

The dishwasher, which is also the plate and cutlery storage area has washed yesterday’s items and kept them warm and ready for the next day. Removing the need for additional storage areas.

After breakfast, the used items are placed into the dishwasher/storage area. This will auto-clean, ready for the next meal.

An autonomous vehicle is ready at the front entrance, linked to the calendar and ready to take the human to their next appointment.
